I was using Norton since the days of the bloated Norton SystemWorks around 15 years ago, and when It's Anti-spam & firewall were separate entities. Since migrating to Avast, I've never looked back.

In my opinion, Norton was never good. And yeah they used to have a lot of bloatware. I think AVG is the best but it takes up so much space. Mine takes up about 17GB. I'm not sure if that's the case with other AVs too.

A lot of users share your opinion, but Norton actually served me very well.

It's "Sonar Protection" detected many malicious files that others failed to do so.

A lot of people think like you do, but if you knew what hackers are capable of, you'd be a lot more paranoid. Here is just one of the many examples. Back in 2017 hackers were able to put a virus on a legit download of CCleaner, on the real website. It's scary what can happen sometimes, even when you don't expect it.
