Before Discord or Skype, Sinisterly had an MSN group. Good memories.

That is seriously old school - Before my time. I feel like a lot of things people say they miss, I was never a part of. There's very little I miss about the "old internet". Except this:

web rings and the lack of advertising

Any given magazine or newspaper's website is now pretty much unreadable from being encrusted with ads. It annoys me to no end and cannot understand how people put up with it.

THIS. Every time I have to click the stupid cookies button I have a slight aneurism. Brave and adblock may have changed my life. I log onto my PC at work, which has no adblocking or protection (to the point people started getting porn popups) and I feel so dirty. I need to go wash my eyeballs after that.

the old internet is one thing Im proud of telling the next generation from my generation.
the free internet, the way it was, will never come back again. it will only be more and more survelliance and restrictions.

One thing I miss was MMOs used to be more social and guides weren't as common. Barrens chat or Varrock Bank in 2005 are great examples. Wikis didn't exist and people used to interact much more.

I suppose that makes sense. I do remember some chat rooms etc for games because there was no other way to find out info or trade.
