What Do You Miss About the Internet of the Past? #1
I miss MSN Messenger.

What I miss about MSN Messenger, is that you actually talked. You logged on and that meant - “Hey, I am here, let us talk” ... Now we are connected 24/7, someone sends you a message, maybe you reply a few hours later, they reply tomorrow. It is so sporadic.

I also miss when YouTube was a much smaller community and the popular channels were normal people, rather than the influencer types we have today.

What do you miss about the Internet of the past?

Before Discord or Skype, Sinisterly had an MSN group. Good memories.

I keep forgetting how old Sinisterly really is, for some reason I always think it is only several years old.

MSN was nearing the end of its lifespan around the time the site started. After a year or two everyone had moved to Skype, and Discord didn't come out until 2015.

Any given magazine or newspaper's website is now pretty much unreadable from being encrusted with ads. It annoys me to no end and cannot understand how people put up with it.

I share the same view - I loathe ads with a passion.

What's ridiculous, Is when I hit the "x" sign on a given ad (to remove It) and a message of "Why this ad?" Is returned. Do they honestly believe I enjoy viewing them, but not that one In particular?

which is exactly why i started the extension "TextAdKill", mwhahah (which is currently back in review haha)

it basically gets rid of all the ads on TextFree, TextNow, etc, etc. It also works for some paywalls and other websites to bypass their content filters, like when people blur the content with some dumbass div tag and css. like thats stopping anyone...

Between the years 2000 to 2008 the internet was totally new and it was like the wild west.
Sometimes when you do something its always the first 'time' or the first day thats the best.
and in the early days, things hadnt gotten so ordered up yet,
you could say almost anything you wanted and the youtubers back then were much more radical.
Hitler mustaches, real actual combat knives, humor directed at other races than white cis males,
you name it.
I also miss the old unsencored youtube, newgrounds, messenger, IRC,
but today the internet is much more strict, tidied up and surveilled and wire tapped.
but well, atleast we had some fun. Tongue
