On the other hand, we do have many members who like to assert their opinions, which I welcome, and some others do as well. Criticism on improvements, changes, other views help form a complete picture

Well usually if they feel inclined to add things, they will add it

look at my PHP tutorial. People gave me tips on how I can make it better, People talk, just when there is something to be said.

Do you have a link to it? I'm always open to brushing up my PHP skills when I've got the time

Really though... In 90% of my posts I include a line that says literally talk about anything even mildly relating to it! Why is everybody afraid of having a conversation with each other?

It's either that or we have a SERIOUS leecher problem here...So, which one is it?

You need to consider your audience here. I've looked at plenty of your threads and while the subject is interesting to me, your posts are often a huge wall of text that is overtly technical and beyond what I feel like reading. Many times it's a case of tl;dr for me. I personally don't have the time to dedicate to reading a huge thread on subject matter I find interesting, but don't have a deep understanding of.

I think the stuff you're contributing is probably great, but it's well beyond my detail of understanding. While I'd like to understand the stuff you're discussing, I don't have the time to figure out the backstory. I'm sure that's the case for most people here, considering this is more a general tech/hacking forum.

Something you might consider is trying to do a beginner series, and try teaching some of the basics of what you know. Do it in a way that your grandmother could grasp the general concept, and you will be able to reach a lot more people Smile.

I have briefly read your threads, and I understand some of it, but I don't have anything to contribute.

I think some people are legitimately intimidated by how much you know Tongue Personally, I haven't had the time to read them, but I plan on it!

Thanks roger, I'll try and work on my presentation of material, I never really considered the whole wall of text thing.

Adding on to @"roger_smith"'s insight, some Wikipedia links or footnotes would be A+

It's understandable to be a lurker here. A majority of users here are here to learn or to lounge as others have stated. Not a big deal man, just try posting more engaging things. It's not very easy to start a super engaging and interesting thread here.

This ^^.

I consider myself a "coder" and I'm also in the IDE group, but compared to you I'm like a little script kiddie that still writes matrix batch scripts.
I always read your tutorials, since they're always very nice formatted and good understandable. I consider you one of the best coders here, but sometimes if I read them I simply think I don't have enough skills to do something like it yet.
