Wanting to get started for real #1
Alright for the longest time I have been wanting to get into coding/programming. Lately I've been feeling more motivated than usual and I thought it would good to seek out advice from others are already experienced. As of right now I'm wanting to get into Web Development (I know the basics of HTML and CSS just haven't messed with them in awhile)  and C# which I've been learning through game development. Basically I'm asking is there any tips or resources you can give a newbie like me?

Just a few resources for tutorials.

Some free HTML one-pager templates for you to play with;
http://startbootstrap.com/template-overviews/grayscale/
http://freebiesxpress.com/gallery/knight...rap-theme/

For colors;
http://www.colorzilla.com/
http://paletton.com/

I also recommend Dreamweaver for coding or Notepad++ if you really need to.

Wow what a great response to have on a thread asking for tips/help. Don't shit post.

OT: Op the links provided above will help you out a lot. Also make sure you practice what you have learnt i mean i know its common sense but it is the only real way to actually learn understand and get good at a language. I also found that once things started to get hard and i wasn't understanding it a 10/20 minute break have a coffee smoke etc whatever and then get back into it helped a lot. Al so somtimes reading from a book about the language is better then online tutorials. Happy coding

I think the easiest way of learning a language is by analyzing existing code. If you find something you like start changing stuff on your local webserver and see what happens and then you can identify what controls what.

If you need any help shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the resources and tips guys I'll probably be starting this weekend again. I'll need to get a little website up for testing and I really hope I actually go through with learning this. Last time I started learning it I just stopped and it's been months.

I would just setup Xampp on your PC and run a local webserver, it's a lot quicker for testing.

Pretty sure no one is going to memorize hex color codes lol.
I use them like every day and have only memorized the basic colors like black, white, red and others
Whoop Whoop?

It's an application that sets up a local webserver on your PC. It makes development a lot quicker as you don't have to continuously update files on your webserver.

You should try learning PHP. That's a good language. But a tip for you is to sign up on Codecademy and do courses, that'll help you out to get started.
