I feel like there are plenty of people who learn skills and express some creativity when modding consoles/games. I'm assuming/hoping this doesn't apply to modding games when that's an open function of the game. For example, Funcom supports modding and developed Conan Exiles to allow for modding. They openly advertise/stream their community's mods.

but for new consoles that people modded hardware or software. look what happened to George Hotz with sony.

My post was stating that the punishment was too harsh. I also questioned if someone would be punished when modding games where the game company, like funcom (not talking about console companies) encourages modding almost as a feature.

Were you saying it wouldn't apply to that, just to stuff like jailbreaking?
