VMware Workstation serves me very well Indeed.

If you're running Windows and your Windows version/edition & hardware supports It, Hyper-V Is a native VM that's well worth Installing.

I'm not sure whether he is asking about VM software or talking about which OS to run in a VM? If you're looking for VM software, check's mothereds answer.

He/she Is requesting exactly this.

Further to my above post, In terms of free alternatives (and user-friendliness), the good old Virtual PC 2007 and VirtualBox will suffice the average user.

@"mothered" I wasn't sure about that since he asked specifically "virtual machine" and not virtualization software, but I think he indeed means what you're referring too.

The OP hit the Like button to my Initial reply, so judging by that, I'd say It's safe to assume It's the VM per se that's of relevance.

yes for personal use I agree that the best is VMware Workstation, not for an enterprise env.

I use VmWare for overall use, and I'm pleased with what I need it for. Would recommend Virtualbox if you want a decent virtual machine without having to pay

@"LEGOMYEGOO", I see you're still active so If you require assistance with the setup and configuration of any VM, I'll be more than happy to help.
