Hopefully there's a more simple explanation, but I'm starting to wonder if these sites are gathering info by making it impossible for me to complete registration, forcing me to try different emails, usernames, and passwords.

I frustratingly gave up on HackThisPage a while ago, that one imparticular just gives me endless error messages for faults in my sign up form... but now various other sites I notice the same issue... usually it's that I never get the registration email, today my frustration lies with crackmes.de, I never get a confirmation email, and if I try to sign in I'm met with "Didn't you get the email?". Am I naive to something here? ...I've never experienced this issue besides with these hacking websites.

I've tried using different emails... after so many attempts and similar issues on similar websites, it doesn't seem far out that the intention is to gather emails, usernames, and passwords, so I try not to link too much information together when signing up.

But damn it I want to get on these sites and do the damn challenges!

Also, if you feel like mentioning your favorite website for hack challenges, wargames, CTF, etc, I'd like to hear of them!

First of all what email provider are you using.
Second, do you use your IP adrress for anything illegal? Sometimes IP's get blacklisted (I doubt that this is the problem though).

Do you get any errors or anything? What sites have you tried?

I've just registered with crackmes.de, used "Gmail" to register and received the confirmation email within 10 seconds:

I'm not sure why you're experiencing Issues. As per @Bish0pQ mentioned, please provide further details.
