Ubuntu noobish? #1
A acquaintance of mine was recently making fun of me for using Ubuntu. He said it was for noobs who didn't know how to use Linux. My argument was that it was for people who want a good OS for free. I use it as my main PC, with a Win VM for gaming. But what does AF think, am I a noob for using Ubuntu?

You don't have to know Linux to use a distro. It's just an OS, intentions for it are different.
I agree with you.

I personally like it, but the only MAIN thing that I feel is bad with ubuntu is that you cant run exe files and a lot of hacking such as rats will fail with ubuntu unless you pay for one, and who really wants to pay for that ya know?

Well that's just Linux in general, which is why I find it nice I can run a VM on Ubuntu.

The fact that you VM to game makes you a noob. As for the distro, it's all in what you want. It's perfectly okay to just move from one OS that does everything for you to another, but some people don't want that.

It's okay, but it's violently overrated. I'd use something like Mint (based on ubuntu) or Debian.

How so? I built my Ubuntu computer to where I am able to run a good VM.

Ya, it is overrated, but the good part of that is a lot of software is supported on it.
