UK PM: Boris Johnson Resigns - New Leader Race #1
[Image: _125932424_secondballotbbc.png]

Some of you may have heard, but the UK's Prime Minister, Boris Johnson resigned, after a massive display of Tory (Conservative Party of which he is leader) rebellion. Now there is a big race between candidates to select a new leader.  The conservative party have technically remained in power since 2010 (there have been coalitions as well). In this time, here have been 3 prime ministers and we are about to have our fourth. The next general election for citizens to vote is January 2025.

Below is a biased snippet of a recent televised debate. I struggled to find a full video of the debate that I could embed, but please watch and research further at your leisure:

I'm wondering whether we will go through more prime ministers before this date. Personally, I feel that this is a "bunch of politics" getting in the way of people getting on with the job of running the country. However, my personal political views haven't been swayed much by these events.

May I ask why you say that? And what do you think another candidate may have done differently? Also, do you have a favourite out of Rishi and Liz?

Personally, I think he and his party did a great job of dealing with the pandemic, because we had much better support compared to America, but there were also plenty of flaws (poor timing with lockdowns, the dreaded party, and a few other blunders). I personally don't think any candidate would come out well following a pandemic, but I know I had my wages paid, a roof over my head, fast access to vaccines and free tests almost all the way through. Tests are still about a pound each in the UK, whereas they're about $10-20+ per test in the states.

This is very much a case of perspective for me, so I'm curious to hear other's experiences.

I suspect opposers such as the French may not agree to that, especially given his role in Brexit. However, it's not all that surprising given his work over NATO issues around the Ukraine etc. Time will tell!
