An online chat? What kind of online chat. If it's a service such as teamspeak then it is possible someone took down the TeamSpeak server. Also, were you the host of that Minecraft game or in someone elses session?

It was either just a problem with your computer network, or someone attacked that "xat.com".

Theoretically, a DDos of data centers would be possible with 2 key factors, a Google 0Day, and a 0day for Windows. The hackers than than hijack a large percent of computers connecting to the internet thus giving them much boot power.

Maybe, all I know is it made it very difficult to sync livestream stuff we were doing when I couldn't use the webchat.
