How to become anonymous using Proxychains and Tor #1
Today post is about becoming anonymous using Proxychains and Tor.Tor and proxychains is the best combination for anonymity.

What is TOR?
Tor is the most popular tool used by different peoples to hide their identity. Tor is most reliable anonymous tool but it lags in speed.

What is Proxychains?
Proxychains is a tool written for linux system for passing traffic of a particular application through different proxies.

Things we need

1. Linux System. In my case I am using Kali Linux
2. Proxychain tool.
3. Tor

Follow the given tutorial

1. First step is to install TOR. Search on google how to install TOR in linux.
2. After installing TOR, start it.
3. If you are using Kali Linux then you don't have to install Proxychains. For installing Proxychains in any other linux type the following commands in Terminal
apt-get install proxychains
4. After installing Proxychains we have to open the configuration of proxychains so that we can add proxies to the list. Type following commands to do that.
Quote:sudo gedit /etc/proxychains.conf
[Image: Screenshot%2Bfrom%2B2016-10-04%2B22-35-54.png]
5. Remove last line from file and add the following line at the end of the file and save it.
Quote:
socks5 127.0.0.1 9150
6. Now we have successfully configured proxychains with TOR.
7. You can use following commands in terminal to open any software or tool through proxchains.
Quote:
proxychains opera
This command will open opera through proxchains and all the traffic will pass through TOR.
You can replace opera with any other software name example SQLMAP,NMAP

Note

1. Make sure TOR is installed properly.
2. Do not close TOR with using Proxychains and TOR.
3. This is not the 100% solution for anonymity.
4. I am not responsible for any harm done by you to any institution using this tutorial.

I'm going to go ahead and revive this thread because I think it's information that many members could use. I do, however want to elaborate on point's 1 and 3 in your notes:

This sort of thing is key. If you're using an OSI high layer subprotocol then you NEED to pay very close attention to every option you have. I don't mean that it's important to function properly, I mean it's important that you understand what's going on so that you can help yourself later.

In reality, this is only like 20% of the solution. TOR does NOT make you anonymous, it simply adds a layer of abstraction. In this case it adds a layer of obfuscation with integral layers of encryption. The fact that TOR includes encryption gives many users the impression that nobody can see their data. They are WRONG!

Tor is not a black box function. We know the inner workings, meaning if we can get our hands on either the input or the output, then we can determine the set. This is very similar to a known plaintext attack, and widely used with Tor users (known as Tor fingerprinting). The key to success in anonymity is a light footprint. That means that you also have to modify your behavior (constantly) so that you aren't easily identified as a pattern. On top of that, you should be adding your own abstraction layers. If everybody uses Tor, then effectively nobody is safe. Use tor on one node as a VPN service, have 4 or 5 of those all over the world why not. Each of those nodes connects back to multiple tunneling nodes, which are connected to by a load distributor you will probably need to write yourself. Doing something like that adds enough encrypted traffic, obfuscation, and complexity that it is secure only because it would take longer to break the system than it would for the system to change.

I'm going to try and say this as nicely as possible. NO, TAILS DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE! YOU LITERALLY JUST SAID THE EXACT OPPOSITE! Now, with that stated, I recommend you have a look into both public and symmetric encryption, VPN, and tunneling. It might save your ass if all you're doing is using tails.

Any VPN service that hosts in Russia. A lot of VPNs that claim "no logs"...their ISP keeps logs so it's sort of retarded. In fact, it's even false advertising.

Given the open threats between Russian and USA generals, and the obvious tensions between the two; I'm not touching anything even remotely Russian.

I would like to also add that any attack that a group or opposition is going to try to de-anonymize you is going to be a client side attack of some kind that will bypass any means of Encrypting traffic. It seems now a days more and more people are being discovered through the use of 0days to catch you =)

I am using Whonix in virtualbox with kali i thinks its more stable and gives more anonymitiy.....do u???
