1.1 Explination on Factions

Factions is a Bukkit Plugin that allows you to make up your own clan, build up your own base and go against other players factions, in basic terms, it's pretty much your clan verse other clans. In factions you have the ability to raid and destroy, letting you go in there with TNT cannons blowing up your enemies base and raiding all their chests because in factions, there is no chest protection! You can invite all your friends to join your faction, or try to get yourself invited into someone elses faction and help them build the best of all factions. Factions are made up by claiming land, just like other plugins like Towny, only your faction can touch your claimed land (Check out more info in the Factions power section). As well as making enemies, you can also become allies with other Factions and team up and fight against all the other factions, the more allies you make, the more people you can take down as a team! Allies are unable to attack you in your own claimed land so don't fear if you worry if they'll turn against you in your own base.

1.2 Allied, Neutral and Enemy Factions

Allied Factions: Allied Factions are other peoples factions who you wish to become friends with / team up with. With allied factions, you have your own faction and also have another faction helping you if you are ever about to be raided or they can help you whilst you raid a faction. Allied Factions are ESSENTIAL on a factions server. Make sure you team up with a well built faction to get the most effective experience. Allied Factions cannot raid or attack you, so if you fear they'll turn against you, don't worry cause they wont whilst you're allied! Beware though, do not EVER betray an allied faction or piss them off, if they don't want to be allies with you anymore but you've shown them where your base is, they can tell/sell the coordinates of your base or even raid it themselves!

Neutral Factions: Neutral Factions are factions you're pretty much already set to, it means your faction is not allied or an enemy of your faction, it's all depends how you relate to them, if you annoy them, they're going to become enemies with you, if you're kind enough, you could possibly become allies with another faction. You cannot be attacked or attack anyone with a Neutral relation, unless you use TNT cannons to blow up their base.

Enemy Factions: Enemy Factions are factions you are enemies with (self explanatory), you don't want to become enemies with a lot of Factions or else you're in big trouble. Usually when another faction finds your base, they instantly make you as an enemy because they WILL be raiding you (Unless in a rare case they'll look around and ask to become allies with you) so make sure you have a well built or well hidden base. Enemy Factions CAN destroy your claimed land as well as steal from your chests.

1.3 Factions Power

In Factions, power is mandatory and you MUST know about it, it's one of the most essential things of Factions. Power is used for when you're claiming land to protect all your chests, furnaces, blocks and items. Some servers when connecting start you off with 0/10 power, to gain more power, you must be online or kill other players on the server, but if you're versing other players, you can lose power each time you die, so beware when you PVP other players. Also with power, you CAN go into Negatives, it is best when you start that you stay away from PVP and be online, go and start up your faction and ignore other people, it doesn't take a huge amount of time to get power so don't worry, you don't have to be on for like 2 days to get up to 10 power. To also get more than 10 power, invite other members into your faction, but with this, if they lose power while you have a lot of claimed land, it may become unclaimed as you lost some power which means you get less land to claim, so when you die make sure you don't die a heap or else your base will become vulnerable! Apart from being killed, being offline for long amounts of time can also lower your power level, so make sure you're active on the server.

1.4 Useful Faction Commands

Now for some commands that you WILL need to know inside of a Factions server! All faction commands start with /f so it shouldn't be too hard to forget.

/f help - Basic but yet very useful, if you ever forget any of these, you should at least remember this command!
/f list - Shows the list of all of the factions in the server, kind of useful if you want to remember about a faction or want to know how many there are.
/f power - Shows your power level, you'll need this for when you keep dying or if you've been off for a bit and want to know how much you went down.
/f create - If you wish to start up your very own Faction, some servers have it so it costs money to create so make sure before you create one if you don't want to lose money.
/f join [Faction Name] - For when you wish to join a Faction that could be open.
f leave - When you wish to leave the current faction you're in.
/f chat - Cycle through all the different chat options, there's Public, Allied and Faction or Faction Only chats.
/f sethome - Sets your Factions home, must be inside your claimed factions land.
/f home - Warps to your Factions home.
/f tag [FactionName] - Change your Factions Name
/f open [Yes/No] - Change to if you want your faction to be open or invite only.
/f invite [PlayerName] - Invite a player to your faction.
/f claim - Claim land for your faction.
/f unlcaim - Unclaim land for your faction.
/f autoclaim - Claims areas in which you walk into (Claimed areas are made up of chunks, so it claims each chunk you walk into).
/f mod [PlayerName] - Make the user in your faction a Moderator of it, as a Moderator they can invite members, kick members, make factions allies, neutral or enemies and claim and unclaim land.
/f admin - Makes the user in your faction an Admin of it, there can only be one admin in a faction so once you give someone admin, you are no longer an admin of the faction as there is only a maximum of one admin per faction.
/f map - Creates a little map inside of your chat to show if there are any factions in your area
/f disband - Disbands your faction, deleting it and getting rid of everyone inside of your faction.
/f ally/neutral/enemy [FactionName] - Makes that faction an ally/neutral/enemy of your faction.

2.1 Information about Bases

Faction Bases are the main core of a factions server, they're needed to store everything you have as well as keep you all safe, you have two choices, you can try be ninja and go for an underground base, or become big and proud and make a massive base but really hard to get into. There are 3 places you can put your base in, the survival world, the nether or the end. Faction bases if built correctly DO TAKE TIME, you need to spend most likely days creating your base so it is nearly impossible/impossible to raid. A point to keep note of is when you're building your base, try to make it at least 3k away from spawn, if you think about it, this will make it even harder for your base to be found, and don't go in a straight line, go straight and then take a left or a right every once in awhile. If you're really super dedicated, go at least 10k out from spawn, this should give you the best possible chance of not ever being found and people wouldn't be trying to go out that far to find your base, this rule includes for all of the different kinds of bases I'm going to list.

2.2 Types of Bases

There are different ways on how you can make your base and where you make your base.

Above Ground (Survival World) - If you wanted, you could build your base above ground, yes it is possible to make a base above ground and make it non raidable, how? Here are a few steps.

- Make the base from bedrock level all the way up to the sky limit.
- Make the outside 3 layers made of water with an obsidian cap around the water source so that they cannot shoot gravel and take away the water source, then make an obsidian layer around the water so they cannot destroy it from the explosions.
- Once you've made your box around your base, start to create the shell of your base, floors, walls and roof all made from obsidian, make sure you have a lot of space because inside of the obsidian you need to make a 4 layer wall, floor and roof to make them as the "anti-freecam layers" to stop people from freecamming into chests, then you're free to build inside of that shell.

Good Points:
- Pretty much impossible to raid
- Lots of space to build everything inside of

Bad Points:
- You cannot really walk out of your base, you can only TP in and out
- It takes up a lot of time and you'll need a lot of blocks to create the base

Underground (Survival World) - Also inside of the Survival world you can also try make your base hidden by going deep undeground till about Layer 10 and building your base, this won't be a huge base but also make sure your base doesn't stick out into any Ravines as this will expose your base. Be aware though if someone walks over the top they can spot your base, as well as if they use /f map while walking.

- First of all, find an ocean and head to the center of it, people won't try swimming or hop into a boat and go search all through an ocean to look for a base most of the time, head to the bottom of the ocean and start digging down. (This is optional, you don't have to use an Ocean).
- Make the outside layer out of water, then make the next layer obsidian, this first of all gives you the best protection, water stopping enemies from trying to blow up your base with tnt as the water stops that, and the obsidian to help keep it together.
- Fill the inside of your base with 4 layers of any material, for the same reason as the Above Ground Base, this will act as a Anti-Freecam layer and stop people from going into your chests with freecam.
- Don't go mining next to your base for obvious reasons, it makes your base noticable, if your server has both the /f sethome and /sethome commands, use /f sethome to get to your faction base and use /sethome to set the home of a mine you can have about 1k away from your base to stop it from being found.

Good Points:
- It's hidden and not visible so people who don't frequently check /f map won't find your base.
- Can keep your base easy to walk around inside of and you don't have to make your base multiple layers thick of obsidian.
- Easy and quicker to build than other bases

Bad Points:
- Cannot simply walk out of your base.

Above the Nether - Skip this if your server doesn't allow people in the nether, some servers have this turned off because this base could be the reason why. In the Nether, you can glitch above the Nether by using an Enderpearl through bedrock. The problem with this technique is not all servers allow this and can get rid of them and possibly ban you for Glitching in the server. This base has a highly unlikely chance of being raided as it isn't visible to anyone around unless they glitch above the bedrock.

- You can make your base however you want but please remember, you cannot use water in the nether so anyone can easily walk in and TNT your base, without water you cannot stop TNT unless you have a heap of obsidian prepared.
- Make it far away from your Portal and make sure there aren't any near by portals, this will help people coming across and seeing your base.

Good Points:
- You can make the base however you want
- It's all flatland so you don't have to mine out a flat piece of land to build and you have unlimited building space.
- No mobs to disturb you.
- You cannot claim Faction land in the Nether so people won't be able to spot it on /f map

Bad Points:
- You cannot use water in the Nether.
- You MAY get banned for the reason of Glitching inside of a server.
- Your base MAY get deleted if spotted by an Admin and they don't allow the Nether base glitch.
- Anyone can raid since it isn't inside of claimed land.

The End - If you're in a server where The End world gets reset and the Enderdragon respawns, please skip this as this is only for servers who don't reset The End. There are ways to actually get into The End and have nobody else get in as well, you are to create a Nether Portal, head into the Nether, go back into the portal and the moment when you're about to teleport, get someone to break the portal, this should get you to get into The End.

- Make the base however you want, but if anyone can access The End, make your base from water and Obsidian, as stated in the other bases, this is to stop TNT from blowing up any of your base and accessing it.
- Without the Enderdragon you're free to build anywhere, it can be in the sky or under the ground, you're pretty much free to go anywhere inside of The End!

Good Points:
- You can make the base however you want.
- You can be the only one to access The End.
- Unlike the Nether, you're allowed Water.
- Unlike the Nether, you can claim inside of The End.
- Can level up by killing Endermen.

Bad Points:
- You may get banned or your base removed if the server deems it as a Glitch in which they don't allow.
- A lot of Endermen around so if you look at one it'll be after you.

2.3 What to do when you become raided

So you may have just been raided or wish to know what you could possibly do when you become raided? Well let me tell you now, there aren't really any positive outcomes, your base will be totally destroyed and all your items taken, and possibly you even being killed if you're inside of the base when it becomes raided. When your base does get raided, don't go back and repair it, start over, if you're only about 2k away from spawn, go to about 5k away from spawn. Was your base too easy to access? Follow this guide on making a better and more protected base. From being raided, you learn from your mistakes, ask how they found your base, if they said they were just walking around and found it, it tells you that it's way too close. Yes most likely if you put in a lot of time to making your base and it ends up becoming destroyed and you'll be upset about it, just take some time off, do something else and come back in a few hours or days, start fresh and think positive and hopefully you'll get a better outcome!

3.1 Tips & Tricks

This will pretty much be a list of things from both inside of this guide and stuff I haven't listed that you really should know.

1. Make your base FAR away from spawn, at least 5k minimum.
2. Don't trust random people in joining your faction, only allow people you know about and their past, people asking to join any faction also counts, especially don't allow these people in.
3. When you PVP, make sure you have enchanted armor, weapons and potions, to increase the chance of not dying and will save you if you get ganged up on.
4. Don't ever teleport people inside or near your faction base if they aren't in your faction, it's a pretty obvious one, if they know where your base is they can tell everyone.
5. To make the best possible Faction, build it with friends you know that play or people you've played with past on Minecraft. Or even better, if you're in a gaming community, ask people you know from there to join the server and help.
6. Don't take shortcuts when making your base, you WILL be needing Obsidian if you want to make an effective base, taking shortcuts with anything will make your base more vulnerable.
7. Get at least two big allied Factions, by big I mean with a well built base and with strong members, with this you'll have a lot of good members by your side and will make other factions not mess with you, otherwise they'll be gaining themselves three enemies which they really don't want.

Guys thank you so much for reading this thread. If this has been helpful for you please leave a comment, I have gotten some of this content from other websites as well as my own personal info. Some of this may become outdated in the future so if any of these methods no longer work I'm sorry, this has been written as of version 1.5.1. As said this took me 3 hours to write up and make so no doubt there may be false information and errors somewhere inside of it.

I can assure you this isn't copied and pasted, the only other place I posted this is on HF at the same time this was posted under the Minecraft section!

Yes it was my account don't worry! If you need proof simply just PM me but you'll notice both these threads were posted at the same time, as much as it isn't real proof it should make sense? Smile
