Quote:A car bomb followed by a suicide bombing less than a minute later killed 29 people and wounded 166 outside a football stadium in Istanbul on Saturday night, Turkish interior minister Suleyman Soylu said.

All but two of those killed in the blasts were police officers, Soylu told a news conference with other government ministers. He said 17 of the wounded were undergoing surgery and another six were in intensive care.

Deputy prime minister Numan Kurtulmus said the suicide bomber had detonated 45 seconds after the car bomb. Soylu said 10 people had been detained based on evidence from the detonated vehicle. Turkey’s interior minister says two bombings in Istanbul have killed 29 people and wounded 116.

Soylu described the blasts outside the Vodafone Arena, home to Istanbul’s Beşiktaș football team, as a “cruel plot”.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Islamic State, Kurdish and far-left militants have all carried out bomb attacks in recent years. The Nato member is part of the US-led coalition fighting Isis in Syria and is battling an insurgency by Kurdish militants in the south-east of the country.

“It was like hell. The flames went all the way up to the sky. I was drinking tea at the cafe next to the mosque,” said Omer Yilmaz, who works as a cleaner at the nearby Dolmabahçe mosque, directly across the road from the stadium.

Credit to the news.

It's pretty disgusting to be honest.

I agree, there's so much more to do on this planet, but no what do we do, we kill each other. Than we call ourselves superior because we mastered the "art" of killing.

I just wish It went a different way, imagine if we all allied and stuck together since the start?

I honestly think we would have achieved way greater things. Although war has a very small advantage too. The advantage is that technology advances very fast in war (since everyone wants to win). I mean how many things are created because of war? Rockets, Cars...

I'm not saying that this is only because of war because I honestly think that if we didn't have war we would even be more advanced as a civilization.

You're not wrong, also over population.

@Aeolian Indeed, overpopulation is another issue no war could cause, but than again, if we had worked together all the time, instead of war we might have found an solution as well.

I mean like, it's not that there isn't enough space on earth, because there is. If we could live on the ocean, the world could easily have double the amount of people it has now. That would result in other problems like food, medicin etc... as well. It's an endless loop.

They do this because they know nobody will take heavy handed action against these groups.
What do they have to fear when they won't be wiped out in one stroke?
Terrorists of common this year view this as pure holy war, they aren't afraid to die one by one in suicide attacks.

They would be afraid to die all together without being able to inflict more casualties to those who don't believe in their beliefs.

Also, your source link is broken.
