Well damn. There's many things about China that I love, this being a problem is not one of them and I always worry about when entering and leaving China. Hopefully this never affects me, but it makes me yet more hesitant to go over there.

I utterly hate being over there in some aspects but in some aspects I love it. I always have a translator, but its always a friend and I try to just use my own knowledge of Mandarin to avoid having to make it as obvious I'm from America and have no clue whats going on.

Its not so much that, its that China selectively will hold foreign citizens (this is moreos a U.S problem than anywhere else because of the deal with the Huawei exec) and make it impossible for that citizen to leave until discussion with the United States has been done. Its not any major problem, its just a huge inconvenience and some people inevitably lose their job over it.

The way they've worded It gives the Impression that once you're there, you cannot leave.

A huge Inconvenience Is an understatement. I think their use of power Is totally uncalled for.

A lot of my friends are from China, and they've said that laws are tightening.
