Thoughts on genetic editing? 01-12-2017, 03:34 PM
#1
Since CRISPR is getting more advanced and closer to the commercial market every day, discussions on the ethics and legality of genetic editing in humans are going to be commonplace fairly soon. The implications of genetic editing are huge: we could eradicate diseases, extend our lifespans, increase our brainpower; the possibilities are endless.
Personally, I think CRISPR is an ingenious idea, but it needs to be regulated. Without strict moderation, it's a tool that could go out of control and alter the human race with no undo button in a matter of a few generations.
This is a really good video on the subject, I'd recommend watching the whole thing before replying.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

I've had a look at subjects like this before, and I'm on board. It'd be more efficient than old fashioned eugenics that's for sure.

Seen that video before I'm all for this shit
Maybe it's because I have eczema, and if they find the cure for that via CRISPR I will be first in line to get this shit removed. It's such a pain in the ass to take care of.
I'm perfectly fine with this. But only for the "getting rid of disabilities" part. Not the whole "factory baby" things. I personally want a completely perfect child. There would be no fun in that.

I'm all for it! There should be laws regulating it to some extent and stuff, but otherwise I'm for it.

Provided It can be monitored and It's all for the better, I don't see why this should be opposed.
On these grounds, I'm all for It.
