I blame it on the schools, not teaching what they should be.
If you took that hour you spent teaching algebra and taught kids the dangers of real life then everyone would benefit.
Also common sense does contribute to the stupidity demonstrated. Have you seen that experiment where they did a fake house fire? One of the kids literally sat in his wardrobe.

I agree with King. Although yes, it is common sense. However, kids still need to be reminded of dangers which can happen.
