Thinking of joining the army #1
This position

Any thoughts, concerns, etc? I've never been one to want to support our government and always thought of the military as my last resort...which I'm definitely nearing honestly.

Mmmm Why?

Not sure i love the salaray package. Sounds to me like your cash income is just 40k a year, with other benefits on top of that, such as free or subsidized food and housing... which can add up to a lot... but thats still ~60k a year lol. They suggest its up to 100k value but i dont believe it lol.

Could probably make more than that in the public sector if you know your stuff? depends on how long your contract is too. if its just a few years then that could be a good stepping stone into the commercial industry. but if its 5 or more... not so sure.

I choose this position because its a field that I am highly interested and already in training for. Something I know I am and can be good at.

Although I do agree with the points you raised. I wonder if they have a 3 year contract I could sign, it would be great to use this as an opportunity to get out there.

This is what concerns me, you don't support the government and from the sound of it aren't that keen on the military. Which brings me on to my question, is it really worth making yourself miserable for? I understand your doing it for experience and learning, but you could end up hating it because of where you are.

Well... I have some military training, and the experience is definitely amazing. not for the faint of heart though lol. im assuming you would go through all the basic training and health tests as well despite it really being a non-combat role.

also, be prepared to treated like shit. especially at basic training. what you see on tv and movies is not really exagerated lol. you really do get yelled at, a lot potentially. i remember a bunch of us being addressed by a commander. he was easily 50ft away and without even moving my head i glanced at him. he saw my fucking eyes move and gave me shit for looking at him, not straight ahead (at attention) LOL i wasnt even in the first rank lol.
