Thinking of getting a cat, worth the trouble and cost? #1
I'm thinking about getting a cat and I'm undecided if to go for it.
Is it worth it? I'm a bit worried about the whole responsibility thing and the costs, vet bills, daily care and stuff like that.
If you have a cat, since I don't know anyone with a cat (yeah I'm serious), can you tell me which cons there are to have a cat in the house? Do they really destroy everything in the house? Do you need a lot of commitment, does it cost a lot to give him/her food?

Only serious answers please

I'm having cats since I was little. Absolutely love them. Never could live without my cats!
Food isn't that expensive. Of course it depends on the country you live in. In my country it's like 2 Euro per can for good food. My cat needs one of these cans per day.
That's not the cheapest food though. Don't buy the cheapest, it contains sugar or grain and other unhealthy stuff.
Yes, vet bills can be very expensive. But you could save some money every month just for this cause, so you always have a reserve.

Depends on the country you live in. In the UK, £15 Vet insurance/month and approx. £100 every three months for food and litter. Not too expensive if you ask me. Also there are tons of online adoption agencies around Eastern Europe that for £200 will bring you the kitten to your door. Do not buy. There are some unscrupulous individuals that breed kittens just to sell on websites like Gumtree and such.

You should only get an animal if you have the resources to take care of them. I love cats and think they are a worthy investment.
