I know the OS requirements on the case say Windows and mac. my question is, Can i Install and play the sims 3 on Linux OS?

There is something called dual boot.
Or use a VM (for Linux).

i would never switch to linux for gaming. the game is the girlfriends. she plays almost every couple days, i do more with the computer then she would ever think of lol. I just wanted to know if i did switch for me, would she still be able to play? if that makes any sence lol

You have options here:
- As Deque said: use VM (VMWare/VirtualBox), on Linux or if you want to simplify things, install host Linux in Windows
- Multi-booting (Dual OS): this is what I am using + I am hosting XP on Linux (lol? idk!)

It *may* run under wine or playonlinux but there is no guarantee and could be a pain to get running properly but there is no official Linux port nor will there be

I duel boot win7 and ubuntu works best for me.
