Personally, I can read it just fine unless I'm trying to browse on a dimmer display, in which case it becomes rather difficult to make out. There's also some difficulties with visibility in well-lit rooms or outdoors, where electronic screens are a little less clear to the eye.

It's fine in regular browsing situations, but a somewhat lighter grey might be better as an all-purpose solution. (I agree, though, that stark white would be a little much. Greys are definitely less harsh.)

I'll consider making text a little bit brighter.
