Thanking/Liking topics 05-12-2013, 07:48 PM

Hello,
i have a little bit of a rant for you all...
Well, i always see on forums they have a liking/thanking system, i think most of the time they are misused, people never thank the topic when someone does a great and helpful topic, if they don't get something out of it they don't thank it, i think that's wrong, when people use there time and make a really good tutorial or something does it really hurt to thank them its like "give and take" its all take take take in our world.
Thank you,
Corey

Sadly enough I see this to be true too often, on various forums that I visit mostly for learning or teaching purposes such as on Android Central the "Thank You / Like System" is utterly sad, it's used to show when someone wins a rant essentially instead of how thankful users are for quality content, it pains me to see users put out hours maybe weeks of work to in this case create ROM's for rooted AOS devices and there are well over 5000+ downloads but only 20 thanks on the thread. It's sad really. Show gratitude to those that spend their time to help better your life and or experiences right?

I thank when I can't respond in a non-spam post. If I can, I would rather post. Sometimes I do both depending on how much I agree with it. I do agree that they are not used as they should be though.

Personally I'll like or thank a topic or post when I feel it's necessarily to reply or show my appreciation without actually posting. I do know what you are saying when people always expect likes and such, similar to some sites where graphic artists request you like their thread before you can get graphics from them.
How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;
Till rising and gliding out, I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
