[TUT] How to render quickly on Adobe After Effects [TUT] #1
While making a video on Adobe After Effects, the most painful part is rendering.Sometimes ever rendering a video of 1:30-2 minute long video takes up to 3 hours on my machine and it is really very very boring and irritating.

Over the time I have googled about some tips and tricks and it returned some scattered solutions. So I thought to compile them up together and make a tutorial here to help out fellow community members. If you follow the settings I have mentioned below, trust me it will save a hell load of your time !

Firstly Open Adobe After Effects. Then Hold Shift and go to Edit>Preferences>General. Now it will open the General Preferences Window and if you look at the bottom of the list you will see a new tab called Secret.

Click on secret. Now here, Tick Disable Layer Cache and Purge every 2 frames during make movie

Select(tick) Ignore Sequence Rendering Errors.Basically it saves the time more than any other tweaking. It means even if you have some error with a transition or layer, instead of stopping/crashing the whole thing down, it will carry on till the end. So in case if you have some problems with rendering at a particular layer, just render that layer later on and merge the two videos !

Now work on your project and when you are done with it and about to render, press Caps Lock and then go onto render queue. What this does is simply disables the RAM preview. It saves a tremendous amount of RAM which could then be used for rendering itself.

Whole selecting the Render Settings, I suggest you do some research and know exactly what output you might need.Obviously for a school project you don't need a HQ video so in that case scenario, you can simply go for a comparatively low resolution output which will save both rendering time and output size.

Important Notes:
If you have two versions of After Effects installed on your system then the secret menu will never show up !

If you have used a lot of effects and details, I suggest it will be better for you to not to expect the rendering get done with in 30 seconds.

Rendering depends more on you Processor not RAM.So if you are rendering on a regular basis and really need to get the job done faster and swifter, I suggest you must get some powerful processors like i5 or i7 atm.

Try not to run anything else while rendering and dedicate the full system for Adobe After Effects to use and get the job done.

Also for a better and quicker output, before start rendering, From render settings, you must ensure your GPU (i.e. OpenGL is ticked on.This truly ensures better and faster output.

That was it ! I hope you've got some real help out of this tutorial and it saves you some time. Also please share about any other tweaking or setting that you are using or know about which helps in getting the rendering done faster.Thank you for reading the whole of this tutorial
