What was this made in? Kind of looks like something you could put together in Blender in 30 minutes.

Was made in C4D! Took a lot longer than 30 minutes though.

Not familiar with that program. The reason I guesstimated 30 minutes because on Blender it looks like you can simply add a dozen icospheres and then pull some vertices around to create this image. Is that similar to what you can do in C4D?

Blender is a very good program but has a steep learning curve and yeah, you can do this kind of work in blender or zbrush in a couple of minutes, higher detailed work can take anywhere from days to months.
