There's been lots of discussion over the amount of US hardware that was left behind in Afghanistan. Official numbers aren't out, but there's information on what we provided the Afghani government. It's getting common to see the Taliban with optics that we normally only afford special operators (i.e. Trijicon ACOG = $1200+, EOTech ATPIAL = $1500+).

The U.S. provided an estimated $83 billion worth of training and equipment to Afghan security forces since 2001. This year, alone, the U.S. military aid to Afghan forces was $3 billion.

Putting price tags on American military equipment still in Afghanistan isn’t an easy task. In the fog of war – or withdrawal – Afghanistan has always been a black box with little sunshine.

It doesn't sound like there was much of a resistance. Even the president fled, with the head of presidential security cooperating with the Taliban.

Lol, little to no resistance yeah. A rusty bolt or screw gives more resistance than the Afghan army. The only upside is knowing that the Taliban has to maintain all this equipment which they probably cant

It was probably cheaper to incapacitate the equipment and leave it than to convey it home.

It was this, combined with the foolish plan of "Let's just completely abandon an army that relies almost entirely on our support!"
