SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and President Gwynne Shotwell announced today that plans are in place to fly two private citizens to the moon, the first manned mission in almost 50 years. Training and physical tests are set for later this year, and if all goes according to plan, the pair should launch from the ISS in the spring of next year.
In related news, Musk has stated that SpaceX is pushing for manned missions to mars as well as the beginnings of a permanent Martian colony as soon as the next decade.
