P.S: just a minor one but maybe you'd like to restart on ENTER instead of WHITESPACE. Just because I sometimes happen to be shooting as a motherfucker in hell and when I die I start again without wanting to.

Did you update the Jar archive download as well?

Edit: I should have looked at the OP. Nevermind, and I'll test this right away.

Edit: you might want to put the images inside the Jar file. It doesn't change a thing to me, just a suggestion for portability.

Edit: it is far better now. It's pretty nice to see how many asteroids you destroyed as well. However, I think that a pause function would be very useful (i.e. press 'P' to pause or to resume).
