Well the silk road dealt with murder, human trafficking, drugs and weapons. I think the sentence is harsh but if you think about it, the silk road is responsible for A LOT of illegal trafficking. Murder for hire services were also something they allowed people to use it for.

On discussion of arrests and convictions, The Pirate Bay founders were found guilty of violating copyrights laws and sentenced to prison, yet they did not store anything on their servers- only the user database. They simply provided the gateway to access content, just like "Google" does to access The Pirate Bay. Why haven't Google's founders been apprehended and summoned to court?

The legislative system needs a serious overhaul.
