It all depends on what you're going to utilize a laptop for. You can get a Lenovo, Asus or even a Dell with high-end hardware for the same price as a low-end MacBook Air/Pro. You're also going to spend extra cheese for adapters if you go the Apple way. Find yourself a good used Lenovo or something similar. Lenovo products are decently cheap and typically have a long life span. Good luck OP.
