Sega Genesis Emulators & Games #1
Are there any Sega Genesis (Megadrive in some regions) fans?

It's a game console released in 1988, powered by 16-bit Motorola 68000 and 8-bit Zilog 80 processors (Z80 working as a coprocessor and providing backwards compatibility with Sega Master System, often used for driving soundchip in Genesis games).

"Brief official technical specifications taken from Wiki Wrote:-Motorola 68000 16/32-bit processor @ 7.67 MHz (MC68HC000, CMOS version)
-Zilog Z80 8-bit @ 3.58 MHz
-Yamaha YM7101, derivative of the VDP from the Sega Master System
-64K work RAM (68000), 64K video RAM, 8K work RAM (Z80)
Later hardware had an internal 1Kx16 ROM for the license display screen.
-Yamaha YM2612 5 channel FM and 1 channel FM/PCM, Texas Instruments SN76489 4 channel PSG (Programmable Sound Generator)

I find it amazing what some developers got from this simple hardware and I enjoy the games even today.

I personally use mainly these emulators:
Gens+ (Windows)
Kega Fusion (Windows, Mac OS X)
GenPlusDroid (Android)

And these are my favorite games:
Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles
Mega Turrican
Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Super Street Fighter II
Ethernal Champions
... and some more ;-)

Do you play any Sega Genesis games? What are your favorites? What emulators do you use? Or do you have the real thing?
I love creativity and creating, I love science and rational thought, I am an open atheist and avid self-learner.

Ah, nostalgia! I got the Megadrive for my third birthday, its what started my gaming career. Smile

My favorite game of all time is still Sonic the Hedgehog. Streets of Rage was brilliant too.

I still play on the console, got a new one recently. Tongue
