Basically a "fuck you" from Samsung to all the idiots who still have the Note 7 (I know someone who does)

And in the US...

And rightly so.

Why users are "still" using the Note 7 (and aware of the risks), Is beyond me. If the software update Is not automated (and users can disable the update via the phone's settings), It may defeat It's purpose.

I think there are actually quite a lot of people that are still using the Note 7, thinking that their device won't do the same thing. They won't be able to find out why now though. It's kind of logic that they don't want people to run around with a bomb in their pocket, that would only cause more bad publicity for Samsung.

Hm, I understand the disabling in theory. But it can be circumvented if they loved their Note 7s that much. If I had one I would personally give in to getting rid of it if it were such a severe issue (which it is) but eh. I suppose there are mad people out there who still use it.

I haven't read much about It online, but to my understanding (from what I've heard), I believe a full refund or a replacement Is given when the device Is handed In.

If that's the case, I can't fathom why any user would keep It.

Not sure either, but maybe they just like the phone or don't have the resources to send it back? Maybe they didn't even hear about it yet, could be multiple things.

You've made a valid point here. They may well be unaware of the Issue.

There's no excuse for those Informed though.

Wow, they don't have the right to destroy someone's property without reimbursement.

If they can send an update that ruins the phone, they can send a message that warns people and instructs them how to return it.
