Used Cygwin a couple years ago. If I need to, I just dual-boot Debian.

On Windows I have always used Putty. It's simple, exists for a long time and does what it needs to do. Have used CygWin before but preferred Putty.

I used putty when I didn't know that CygWin existed, now I can't use putty because for me CygWin is so much better imo.
I don't like the Right-click to paste function on putty and there are other annoying things that make user experience horrible.
Nevertheless putty is a functional tool that works and it's a standalone executable that has a GUI for connections/settings and stuff witch makes it easy to use so I see how some people would prefer to use it.
