I feel as if the west has become way too lenient on straight-up pedophiles. And I know a lot of other people feel the same way. People like Drake Bell, who was recently sentenced to 2 years of probation and 200 hours of community service, walk away with a virtual slap on the wrist. Taking advantage of a minor for pictures, all the way up to statutory rape, should carry a minimum of 20 years in prison. Of course, pedophiles do deserve treatment, but you can't reverse a fetish. Once it's there, it will stick with you forever.

At the end of the day, if you do believe you're attracted to minors, focus on other fetishes you may have, and seek treatment. It's the best possible outcome you could make for yourself.

There definitely needs to be different levels of severity, based on the age gap and what was actually done. I don't think Drake Bell is comparable to this guy. Text messages to someone that is 15 is wrong, but I don't think he deserves a 20 year sentence. Many states the age of consent is 16, and at 15 I'd argue most people have an idea of what they are/aren't attracted to. The "woman" in this article, should probably stay locked up for life.
