RE: Robin Williams Died #11
I remember exactly what happened when I first saw it. One of my friends posted on facebook "Robin Williams is dead" and I instantly just thought, nah, surely that's BS, right, another hoax? So I googled it, and 5 legit news sites had posted articles literally 3 minutes ago and new articles were popping out every few minutes, saying it was an alleged suicide. First thing I did was go downstairs and tell my family, who were all quite surprised by it. Guy was easily the best stand up comedian ever, and one of my favourite actors, two of his most memorable films for me are totally different categories, Awakenings and Ms.Doubtfire - Both amazing films that I have always loved. A lot of his films were great, those are just the two that stand out the most to me.

I saw someone post about this yesterday, with an incredibly relevant joke they had heard before that makes a lot of sense, it was something like this (from memory, wording will undoubtedly be a bit wrong):
A man goes to the doctor, and says "Doctor, I'm struggling with depression"
The doctor says to the man "The great comedian Palotelli is performing in town tonight, go see him and it will cheer you up"
the man says to the doctor, "But doctor, I am Palotelli!"

I also saw this image from /b/, and I think this image carries a significant message about his death:

I couldn't bring myself to remove the hood classic above, enjoy it as a time capsule.

Not trying to knock Robin Williams but I noticed a lot of people saying he's their favorite actor just like those same people said Paul Walker was their favorite actor and so forth... It's kind of annoying to be honest.

I found the Paul Walker thing annoying because everyone I saw had never really spoke about him before were all "HE WAS MUH FAVRUT ACKTOR REST IN PIECE IN PIECE ;_;" and it was very annoying, because most of them never really watched many of his movies or spoke about him. At the most with most people I knew they had watched Fast and Furious, and I was never a fan of him so never really cared, and this time I'm noticing a lot of the same with people just saying "HE WAS MUH FAVRUT..." well, you get the point. But, for me he really was amongst my favourite actors and for years has been my favourite comedian. I grew up watching his movies. I remember Ms.Doubtfire especially well because I watched it first when I was really young and my parents were always arguing, so I was always worried that my dad may get kicked out, so it was like, a nice sort of way to relax to watch Ms.Doubtfire, like it was kinda soothing when I got worried about that sort of thing, so I would often end up watching it at least once every one or two weeks during my early primary school years, and as years went by I watched more and more of his movies, and thought he was a great and hilarious actor. Then around 2 years ago I was bored and started looking for things to watch on youtube, came across a bunch of hour long videos of him doing stand-up, and it honestly was the funniest thing I've ever seen, still is. I wasn't able to recover them when my old HDD failed, but I had around 10 hours of some of my favourite stuff of his saved in a drive on there to watch when I was feeling sad or just wanted to watch something funny. It's the only celebrity death to actually affect me. I didn't really give a fuck during the Paul Walker stuff, or about pretty much any other actor or celebrity I otherwise heard about dying, the only other actor I remember giving a fuck about dying was Eli Wallach dying a few months back, and even then that was just "Damn, that's sad, was a great actor" and then back to the normal day, but Robin Williams, man, that's a fucking depressing one for me, I watched his films growing up, I watched his standup shows, I found him hilarious and one of the few celebrities who was relatable, and I think that's why this is the first celebrity death I've ever given a fuck about.

Robin Williams was *the* man. He was an awesome actor, and an awesome person. I can't remember hearing from anyone, before or after he died, claiming otherwise.

Hook, and Dead Poet's Society, and Bicentennial Man, and What Dreams May Come were some of his greatest and some of my favorite movies.
