I've known about this for a while. When Ubuntu is first installed the online results are displayed in the dash but this can de disabled in the settings.

That would be a shame but actually i can't find any proof of it. A simple solution would be to monitor an Ubuntu system to see if there is actually an unauthorized data flow. By the way Ubuntu is going much more in the direction of graphics and aims to compete directly with other OS that dominates the market. Such disclosure would be a shame for the whole opensource community, beside that i doubt it is legal
