Wait! Don't format that PC of yours, have you forgotten your Windows Vista or 7 password. There is still solution for you without using any software or without going through too much stress. Here is how...

OR you want to be a super hero, when your friends will never give you their password...

First step, get Windows installation disk or USB

2. Insert into your PC and boot from CD.
3. Navigate to the window where you can locate "Repair Your Computer" and click on it.
4. Now, select "Command Prompt".

After these steps, here is what we are going to do - We going to replace the "sticky Key" with the "Command Prompt" at the windows logon page so as to manipulate the user password.

5. As soon as the "Command Prompt" pops up, type "copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\" without quotes.

6. After that type "copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe" again without quotes.

7. Now restart your PC, when you get to the windows logon screen,

8. Press your "shift" button (on your keyboard) five (5) times, so that instead of the Sticky Key Notification to pop-up, the Command Prompt windows pops up

9. Now, its time to reset your password, type "net user username newpassword" all of these are without quote...


***NOTE: username = username of the account you want to reset
newpassword = the new password you want to set for the account
NOTE all the spaces between all of these.


10. You are there, you get a successful message in your command prompt...just login with the new password.

11. ###NOTE:Now every time when you press Shift key for 5 times then command prompt will be open instead of Sticky
keys. To get back these Sticky keys repeat first three steps and then in the command prompt window type the
following command.
copy c:\sethc.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe
