So I have to do a 3 year research project for school and I want to do it security based. I'm thinking of created a scanner which analyzes source code for vulnerabilites. What do you guys think? Suggestions would be great.

How will the data collected create good results?

Try to harvest something that will create a good results table and show change over 3 years.

If this is for a thesis, you better be changing something major to improve it, as these tools already exist.

Maybe a tool to scan for places where you can use ASM to massively improve performance( SIMD, force variables into registers, etc ) and make those changes in the code?

It's an EOSS for my high school, so I can use something saturated and I will look into performance improvement. Thanks w00t

What sort of vulnerabilities will you be looking for?

Probably BOF flow applications and SQLi and RfI for network. In an ideal world I'd like to learn c but I'll probably u se python
