Exactly low the value of SP is still too low and easy to get.

I'll be your post whore <3 Wink lolol

how many referrals have you really seen get more than 100 posts, It would like never happen.
Plus it helps the site out in a big way.
That's the point. They don't usually. This would encourage people to be on their referrals to make them active.

RE: Referal SP #25
Here's my take on it. Let me say first off that in the end I think either way is fine.

Offering SP for a referral is obviously nice, because when you refer a friend to the site, you get a little bonus. Yay. It's kinda like when you get a referral bonus at work when you recommend someone.

However, what is a persons motivation to refer someone to SL? Is it to have your friends join you in the discussion? Is it for the SP referral? Both?

The problem when you incentivize is that you always have a select group try and abuse that incentive program. While gaining more users and increasing activity is the end goal of any online forum, having someone spam referral links to get a bunch of 1 off sign ups won't help long term.

I think if we can offer some type of SP bonus for referrals, that would be nice, but we also need a way to make sure the system is not abused.

I hope this all makes sense, I just woke up and just started my coffee.

Well, not having a reward won't really stop one-off sign ups either. Attracting users, even if they only stick around for a while is good. If one in ten users become active, it's an achievement.

RE: Referal SP #27
The problem with having a high referral payout amount is that yes it does help activity in the long run but then nobody will actually buy upgrades because of simply how easy SP farming would be and then Oni would just end up paying out of his own pocket again because the forum will only be getting ad revenue which then comes back to easy upgrades. If pretty much everyone gets their upgrade within a week just due to spamming their referral link across the internet then nobody is there to view the few ads we do have,
