Red Light Cameras Infected With Ransomware #1
Greetings everyone,

This one's for you @Aeolian.

Quote:Police in Victoria, Australia announced recently that they will withdraw all speed camera infringement notices issued statewide between June 6 and June 22 after a virus in the cameras turned out to be more widespread than they originally thought.

At a press conference, Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer said up to 280 cameras had been exposed to the WannaCry ransomware virus. It was originally thought that just 55 cameras had been exposed.

The cameras are not connected to the internet, but a maintenance worker unknowingly connected a USB stick with the virus on it to the camera system on June 6.

Accidental or Intentional by the maintenance worker? Perhaps he Incurred to many speeding fines.

Yes, that would be hilarious.

They haven't disclosed the extent of the damage and given the number of cameras Infected, they may never know. They first thought It only Infected 55 cameras, and now believed to be 280.
