A new, very early access, but FREE battle royale game has been released. Now you may be cringing as I did. With H1Z1, Pubg, and Fortnite, what more can BR really offer? Turns out there is more. I've got super hooked on this disgustingly retro themed new game.
It's laid out like a big American game show (hunger games anyone?). There's cash that can be earned in matches, and what you are left with can be carried into the lobby to buy cosmetics or withdraw in a new match (which is slow, noisy and risky). There's some super unique features:
  • Cash system that can carry over to other matches (at risk), and cannot be purchased with real money
  • Square grids instead of circular, shrinking map
    [Image: radical%20heights%20review%20map_0.jpg]
  • More urban areas (less hiking)
  • Unique looting caches: vending machines/spin to win/cash boxes (no, not chests, I don’t know how to explain)
  • Transport: BMX bikes and zip-lines
    [Image: rh-photo.jpg]
  • Slots need to be unlocked to hold multiple weapons (no backpack)
  • Cosmetics found in game unlock cosmetics that can be bought with cash also found in matches

Now, these aren’t groundbreaking. But they’re super nice. There are a lot of issues with the game. When Fortnite said Early Access, it’s still a pretty complete game. Radical Heights is not even close. Which explains the crappy steam reviews. However, it’s a truly good laugh and I’d tell anyone to try it! Small download and free – nothing to lose!

Pretty decent and is unique compared to other BR games. It's very early access, so there's definitely some bugs. Might play it more when Squads are released.

Thankfully the bugs aren't the worst (given how early access it is). I've definitely seen worse bugs in more developed games. Squads would be a huge addition. And female characters are coming soon.

There are so many Battle Royal games that you can barely keep up. I'm not really a fan of PUBG/Fortnite but I must admit this looks just plain fun to play. Not that crazy competitve but just fun.

Once I get my new hard drive (and if I can still remember) will be trying this out. Since it's free it can never hurt much, right?

I've heard a lot of people compare it to what they liked about H1Z1. I've little experience with H1, but I think that's a good sign. There are a lot of these out atm, but this has plenty of it's own unique features and plus points. I definitely prefer to the shooting in this game. I don't feel like I'm being screwed too much by bullet drop/spread/bloom.
