Not surprising. I started learning my first programming language (Turbo Basic) for a Scouts Canada badge when i was like 12. And that was about 17 years ago now. By the time i was 14 i was showing off code i wrote at school. And we didnt even have dialup internet until i was 15 I think (1999). And that was on a 166 or 286 or something computer lol
Fast forward to todays youth, who've had highspeed adsl/cable pretty much all there life running comparably super powered computers, its no wonder they are getting into these interests earlier. Likely the only reason i hadnt started earlier is that we didnt even have a computer until i was 11 or 12 and it ran DOS without windows or internet (werent exactly rich, we got an old used computer lol). And i was interested in computers long before we ever got 1 at home. I remember in Grade 4 the "computer teacher" (the math teacher that was shown how to turn em on and print) would pull me out of class when he had a problem). Had i had access to these kind of resources when i was 8-9 i probably would have been programming by then LOL
