I've only tried the XBONE, so idk about the PS4.
I had the PS3, but that's not much help.
I like the XBONE, I don't use it that often, but it's a good console imho.
Although... I think you should build a gaming computer and pair a remote with it, you can even hook it up to a TV like a console.
If you go Mini-ITX, you can get a really small-sized build that doesn't take up much space.

If you want something easier to build though, you can go with a Micro-ATX case. (bigger than Mini-ITX)

Congrats, now you have all of Steam open for you to play.
There is a wider selection of PC games than Xbox One games.
Bonus: If you ever get an Oculus Rift, it won't work on an Xbox One... But it will on your gaming computer build.
