Portforwarding not working [Tried almost everything] #1
Hope this is the right section. Whenever I port-forward it never shows up as working on CanYouSeeMe.org
Hope someone can help me. Biggrin

Things I've done:
  • Listened to the port with Luminosity Link
  • Opened the port correctly with HorusVPN (All done correctly)
  • Checked with various ports to see if it was only that one

You must be behind 2 routers? I've had the same problem before. Set up DMZ. Also this should be in the networking section.

EDIT: Try downloading simple portforward if it helps.

Yea a change is needed. Also, DMZ Host would work, but you lose the security of regular port forwarding. Although if regular port forwarding has no luck, DMZ is probably the best option, just make sure to close down all the other primary communication ports and keep the box you were forwarding LOCKED DOWN and secure.

Could you explain more? XD

I'm a bit of a noob and I didn't really understand what you said haha

Okay. So when you open a computer up to the internet, there are two main ways it is opened. The most common is basic port forwarding where the router directs all requests on that port to and from that specific local IP address (that specific system). DMZ Host (which is slightly different than true Network DMZ), directs all requests to the router from the public IP address to that one device, unless specific port forwarding is enabled.

Even simpler, DMZ Host is a less secure version of port forwarding as all ports are open for that box. So if you were to use DMZ Host, you would need to make it a priority that you use a dedicated machine (not your personal computer) and to keep all ports closed and ONLY open the ones you would be using. It is also a good idea to enable a true DMZ for this computer and keep it isolated from your network.

Simplest, It opens up that entire machine, and while it isn't too secure, it is the easiest and most direct way. (Assuming you are on a home router)

You could do all of those things, but it's useless if you don't allow incoming/outgoing connections on that port through your computer and/or router's firewall.

if you have 1 or more router then it will need a bit different to make the thing working correctly

from Modem -> Router have 2 way to plug the internet cable, WAN / LAN
if you plug in LAN -> Open port at Modem to your IP
if you plug in WAN -> Open port from modem to router IP then open port at Router to your local IP

remember to set your Local IP to statics then it will work

contact me via skype and i may help

There are ISPs which disable port-forwarding.

So, if you've tried everything and it still didn't work, you might want to consider this to be your case.

Calling them and asking would be a good first step.

That's not really possible unless you're in a double NAT situation. All TCP communications require a port to be opened up, it's just a matter of getting that port to trigger.
