Eh, why is everybody against this? I like the portal, it highlights the recent happenings on the forum. If I see the forums right away, I have to search and check every section for me to be updated.

Would it be hard to implement if we can just set this as a setting? Like for me I want to use the portal I set it to redirect to portal as homepage while all others who don't want it set their settings to redirect right away to the forum.
