Porn Sites Shut down in Texas #1
Porn Sites are starting to get shutdown in Texas. I imagine other states will follow.

Oh man, looks like Texas is kicking off the great pr0n purge, huh? Bet we'll see a bunch of other states jumping on the bandwagon soon. Classic case of the internet freedom vs. censorship showdown. Gotta love how they think they can just control the wild west of the web. News flash: the internet's a hydra - cut off one head, two more pop up. Watch as every VPN and proxy service sees a spike in users. And let's not forget, there's always some genius in a basement somewhere cooking up a workaround. Popcorn's ready, this is gonna be a show!

Old people making laws for the internet again... Won't stop your 12 year old from whacking it, but NordVPN will see an increase in revenue.

Whilst I don't browse those websites myself, this legal issue seems nonsensical, and isn't going to meet the desired outcome. This is supposedly to protect minors, right?
In what world is that going to stop minors accessing this content? They will just use other means to gain access.

In addition, I'm pretty certain there have been several studies that show restricting access to adult content (and refusing to discuss sex etc at home) actually increases the chances of sexual deviancy and and problem behaviour.

It's like the law makers didn't even spend 10 minutes googling let alone consulting any experts.

I also think this sets a somewhat dangerous precedent legally. Or at least, a very messy one for lawmakers, enforcers and the public.

That's gonna be interesting, for sure.
I can understand both sides: Porn can lead to an addiction and having an addiction is never good. It may even can disrupt the way people think about sex.
But, as it already has been said, restricting access to something or even completely forbid it will only lead to an increased interest. It is like when we were children and our parents told us 'not to go there, because...' and obviously we did go there just for the cause...

If there were creatures granting every man's wish, these creatures wouldn't be angels, they'd be demons.

If these old men really hate porn, they should fight it by actually convincing people than just be seen as "old men wanting to ban immoral things".
There's nothing wrong not liking porn and seeking to minimize its influence, why don't they make their opinion popular among the youth than just be seen as these ultraconservatives ruining fun? Also I think trying to ban it is going to be totally ineffective unless they want to destroy democracy in the process, in which case yeah they are definitely in the wrong.
