Don't go into alleyways where the paedophiles lurk.

I'll...uh...I'll keep that in mind. Thanks?
Who knows
you might chance upon a wild bluescreen, heard you can find him with a fukton of cp
Spoiler:
In all seriousness, though:
use the pokemon-finder thing to try and locate pokemon. Though I don't think i've met anyone who's ever figured out exactly how it works. Heard varying opinions about how it's supposed to be treated like that shitty windows minegame, or a 3x3 grid, etc.
Go to pokestops with a lure. Obvious, easy to catch pokemon
Errr...go outside and play? There really isn't much to the game if you're not botting. It's mostly going outside and catching pokemon. Don't think there's a 'right' way to play it (which is why it appeals to so wide of an audience). I mean, as long as you're gaining exp and evolving pokemon there's nothing that a player can do which really hurts them irreversably in the game. Might slow progress, but never deter I don't think.
Can't really think of anything else :/

- Save your stardust until late 20's unless you really want to start competing in gyms earlier.
- Incense works better on the move, but don't waste them in a car as Pokemon will often flee.
- Use Razz Berry before each throw on rare/high CP pokemon
- Pick Team Valor
- http://pogotoolkit.com/ (Evolution calculator)
- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...=664090909 (includes ideal movesets and dmg calc among other things.
- Save up all pidgeys, weedles, rattatas... etc until you have 200+ candies of each, pop a lucky egg and evolve for 30 straight minutes to power level. Plan accordingly so you don't run out of evo fodder.
- Take advantage of lures. Find hotspots in town and look for overlapping centers to sit in multiple lures at once.
- Look both ways before crossing the road
- That cool teenager screaming DRAGONITE OVER THERE didn't actually find a Dragonite.

Jeez, nice formatting too. Thanks for your effort, I'll keep these front center while I'm playing.
