Playstation Now: your thoughts and opinions? #1
"PlayStation™Now offers the first streaming game service on PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4 consoles based on cloud-based technology." Read more about it here.

As you probably know, the PS4 is not backwards compatible with PS3 games, which seems to irk quite a lot of people since there are still quite a few games that'll be enjoyable solely for the PS3 while the PS4 continues to expand its library.

What might catch your attention is that with the PS Now, you'll be able to play PS3 games non-natively on your PS4 consoles, allowing you to play your favorite games while trying out those new ones you've never got a chance to play.

I personally have a pretty big collection of games for the PS3, so I'm still a bit annoyed that I can't play my own discs on the PS4. However, it's better than not even being able to play those titles at all, as people who are just buying the PS4 independent of owning the PS3 will be able to have the best of both worlds.

My friend has the beta for this, it takes up A LOT of bandwidth and you need good internet. It lags if you're on wireless, so you have to have a wired connection..

If I still had a PS4, I would probably try it out and see how it goes.

Until then, it's not for me.

The bandwidth requirements for this are too ridiculous to be practical. Especially living in Canada, most providers have a bandwidth limit (I have 30D/3U with 275GB/month) with exorbitant rates for overages ($3000 for an extra ~1300GB when someone got on our WiFi while we were on holiday). I highly doubt that it will be successful.

I feel that it will be most successful as long as the subscription is free for playstation plus people and that it won't have too many restrictions. I'm excited for the idea of it because it'll also extend to the PS Vita as well.

The pricing seemed ridiculous, and it was rather disappointing not being able to own the game for unlimited streaming.

However, if I want to try a game for 7 days, the price for that now averages at $5.65 (roughly 81 cents a day), which seems pretty fair. On the other hand, it may just be cheaper in the long run to buy a secondhand PS3 and find all the games you want for as cheap as possible. That's what I'm planning to do, even with all the JRPGs I missed out on last gen (having only a 360 and Wii last gen) getting ported to the Vita.

Bandwidth-killing is another major worry for me, too.
