I really think the Paranormal Activity series just went downhill with all the sequels and spinoffs, sadly.

It's not surprising. Especially in the horror genre, sequels are hard to please audiences since the ideas are never really fresh. Halloween is one of the few exceptions IMO (even though it's technically a slasher).
