Because Oni set the prices kinda randomly (I think) to encourage people to actually be active so they can get the ranks available, this new rank should be like $20, only from diamond to whatever it would be. I like the idea though. When I first joined, I saw very few diamonds, now they're quite common.

I actually paid (mostly) full price (cash) for my upgrades.

This happened years ago, but I said I would never add a 6th upgrade. New people join and it's already intimidating enough to see 5 upgrades. All 5 require a pretty hefty commitment, either financially or time-wise. Being blunt, Diamond costs $175.00 or 1750 posts. Some of the things you suggested were also done before (forum team/editing/ghosting), but removed due to abuse.

The Forum Team page was removed because newbies would PM people on it (mistaking them for staff). It actually inconvenienced newbies, upgraded members, and staff.
Editing was removed due to abuse. We allow editing up to 3 months intentionally, as there were cases of rule-breaking (with staff members being unable to view edit logs).
Ghosting was removed due to the implications. By not logging IP addresses, staff are unable to detect multi-accounting. This was abused heavily by scammers.

We used to only have Elite and Super Elite as upgraded ranks. As the forum grows, it is likely we will change the pricing or adjust them again.

Currently, you can report a thread and have staff open/close it for you. I'm aware it's possible to add that functionality, but it would require edits or a plugin (like the 9 year old one you linked). Currently we're working on re-releasing the old theme and awaiting 1.9's release, so I'm hesitant to stack any more plugins on top of our already endless list.

Fair enough, as @mothered mentioned though, the volume for this is high, so it may be worth looking into.

We actually had a plugin for this, so I may retrieve and fix it to work with the current version.

From reading oni's post, doesn't seem like their will be a 6th rank to which, I would go for.

I would probably upgrade to a 6th rank personally, however I do agree with the point that it is intimidating to see so many ranks when you're first starting out.
