So sorry to hear about that. I remember having my dog (aunt's dog but lived in the house) die in the house when it got sick in 2014. I remember I was supposed to be keeping an eye on her and I did that day. Then when it came night time, the dog was with my grand mom. I checked on it a few times and she was doing alright I believe, but then as I was in my room playing PS3 after I checked, my aunt called and my grand mom told my aunt that the dog was doing fine although it had already passed and I didn't know until she came home and I heard a scream from my aunt and heard that the dog died. That was the scariest fucking experience seeing the dog and the sadness that day.

You will eventually get over this. It took time for all of us however we still miss her (dog) to this day. We have another dog now that looks exactly like the last one.
